This beautiful place is full of traditions and deep-rooted customs. It is where the cacao growing origin and the home-made chocolate
are kept as an ancestral tradition by the people who work in it. However, all the process has been industrialized nowadays. Our objective is to
rescue and show the cultural values that characterize our company as well as to preserve and make people aware of ecology. We want also to regenerate
the last plantations of cacao Criollo (pronounced cree-yo-yo), which is considered the best around the world because its high levels of fat,
delicious flavor and excellent aroma.
Its history starts when Mr. Rutilo Peralta Tejeda bought this house in 1917, being an agricultural place. His daughter, Mrs. Rosaura Peralta de
Cacep, inherited this property in 1945. And she handed over the property to her son Juan Cacep Peralta in 1966 who starts the molienda process of
cacao to get paste and elaborate chocolate.
But in 1985 the factory is closed. In 1987 and being the new owner, Mrs. Rosa María Cacep Peralta begins a new project with her son Mr.
Vicente Alberto Gutiérrez Cacep in which they start the chocolates industry. He has made La Hacienda the best producer and the most important
cacao derivates (paste, fat, cocoa). CACEP Chocolates is known for its chocolate candy and a variety of products made with the processed raw
material and because it is the only chocolate factory in the Cacao Route. All this makes CACEP chocolates a great company and the best in his kind.
Cacao, a gift from the gods to Tabasco and from Tabasco to the world.
